How does coaching work?

From our first contact to our final conversation, wellness coaching will be a powerful partnership that will help you design your future wellness. You can expect an initial one-hour conversation as you define your wellness vision with subsequent goal setting conversations occurring every 1-2 weeks depending on your schedule, support needs, and preference. A minimum 3-month commitment is highly recommended to ensure the greatest success with adapting to new lifestyle habits; however, we will design together both your coaching frequency and length to meet your needs.


How is wellness coaching different from therapy, personal training, working with a nutritionist or even seeing my doctor?

The heart of wellness coaching comes from the vision of the client. Unlike therapy, personal training, nutritional counseling or your doctor, my job is to support you in clarifying what YOU want to achieve, not offer advice about what I think you should do. Together, we can co-create specific, realistic goals with measureable action steps that help you move along your wellness path. We will work together in collaboration, amplifying your strengths and past successes, to support your forward movement and progress.


What are the credentials of a Wellness Coach?

Health and Wellness Coaching is a rapidly growing profession and it’s important for you to be informed about your coach’s education and training. Credentials can vary greatly! Many Wellness Coaches are certified by various independent organizations; however, national standards are quickly emerging. Beginning in 2017, the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching has partnered with the National Board of Medical Examiners to certify coaches nationally after completion of a rigorous coaching program, submission of coaching experience, and passing a national exam. When looking for a Wellness Coach, consider background and experience as well as the organizations through which they certify. Wellness Coaches should be governed by ethical guidelines, have a previous degree and/or extensive experience in a health related field, and should not sell you anything more than the coaching experience.

How do I know if wellness coaching is right for me?
